Courses & Seminars
The Pillars
academic program is complemented by courses and seminars offered
by community & ministerial leaders. Some of the courses
provide certification while others offer personal development
opportunities. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
(A.S.I.S.T) ASIST is a two day workshop designed to teach
the skills to competently and confidently intervene with those
at risk of suicide. Developed by LivingWorks Education, Inc.,
the workshop prepares students to feel more comfortable, confident
and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of
suicide.
St.
John’s Standard First-Aid Basic Rescuer CPR (Level C)
Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR are combined to create
one course for convenience. Annual retraining in CPR is recommended.
This is a recognized prerequisite for medical, dental, nursing,
police, fire and ambulance programs. Nationally recognized
certificates, valid for three years, are issued upon successful
completion. Topics include Emergency Scene Management, choking,
severe bleeding, wound care, burns, poisons and much more.
Infant/child and adult CPR will also be taught.

Ministries' Biblical Financial Study
It is crucial that, as a student on the verge of beginning
your career and family, you understand God's perspective on
how to handle your finances. You will learn what Scripture
teaches about managing all your possessions. Each time you
learn a principle, there is a financial exercise to help you
apply it. What a wonderful opportunity to be equipped to be
faithful financially for the rest of your life!
The
Canadian Ropes Course Company
This two-day session will allow participants to become certified
in the use of basic ropes course operation. Technical information
about high ropes courses and how to facilitate groups on high
ropes will be covered. Participants will be asked to perform
several tasks that are required in the daily operation of
ropes course facilitation. Safety procedures and rescue simulations
are covered in detail.
Classroom
Safe Boating Course—Pleasure Craft Operator
This course is approximately three hours in duration and includes
the Transport Canada accredited exam at the end of the course.
The Pleasure Craft Operator Card is issued on-site, and is
recognized and approved by the Canadian Coast Guard and Transport
Canada. This course is designed for both the experienced and
novice boater

Non-Credit Seminars and Courses
Throughout the year, students will attend seminars and conferences
that are applicable and complementary to their spiritual development. |
